Recover Hand Function with the ReGrasp Hand Neurorehabilitation System

Clinically Proven to Speed Hand Rehabilitation After Stroke or Injury

A life-changing tool, the ReGrasp hand neurorehabilitation system is backed by 30 years of research on functional electrical stimulation (FES) to improve active range of motion and hand function. Whether you’re suffering with hemiplegia or upper limb paralysis, ReGrasp is proven to:

  • Improve hand active range of motion and hand function*
  • Facilitate daily tasks
  • Re-educate muscles
  • Maintain or increase range of motion
  • Prevent or retard disuse atrophy
  • Increase local blood circulation
  • Reduce muscle spasms
  • Help paralyzed fingers move

*In patients with hemiplegia or upper limb paralysis due to stroke, traumatic or acquired brain injury, or C5 level cervical spinal cord injury.

FES Therapy Designed for Hand Rehabilitation and Daily Tasks

ReGrasp is proven to help regain hand function through functional electrical stimulation by assisting patients who have hand paralysis to perform daily activities. Simple to set-up and use at home every day, ReGrasp is the ideal tool to help regain hand function and to help paralyzed fingers grasp. ReGrasp helps to restore blood circulation, improve finger dexterity, and restore hand power. Physicians and therapists also use ReGrasp with their patients in clinics.

Why ReGrasp is Easy to Learn and Use:
  • Set-it up in five to ten minutes
  • No special training required
  • Easy to operate with clinically developed pre-optimized settings
  • Activate with head motion or tap
  • Use ReGrasp for short therapeutic sessions in the clinic or at home
  • ReGrasp also assists with daily activities

FES improves pinch, grip strength & ADLs in C5-C6 tetraplegia.

There is strong (Level 1a) evidence that FES treatment (ReGrasp) improves upper extremity function in chronic stroke.

ReGrasp Technology is designed for both clinicians and patients, and is made available in two variations — a Clinician System and a Patient Kit.

The Clinician System comes equipped with our electrode positioning puck, which provides a mechanism for patient assessment, allowing clinicians to appropriately identify candidates to then utilize our ReGrasp Patient Kit outside the clinic in a home environment.

Patients in the USA can also purchase the ReGrasp Patient Kit for home use with a prescription.

Bluetooth Control Helps Your Fingers Move Anytime, Anywhere

ReGrasp system offers the benefits of FES technology to everyone who needs it wherever they are. It’s designed to help with day-to-day activities.

  • A Bluetooth controller in the form of Head Motions Sensor (HMS) sits securely behind the ear, allowing patients to control hand function using simple head movements.*
  • ReGrasp is breathable and washable
  • Its thin, fitted profile is discrete and comfortable to wear anywhere

*The use of the head motion sensor is optional, and is strongly recommend once proficiency is achieved with the general use of ReGrasp therapy or after approval from the clinician.

The Evolution of ReGrasp

We can thank Prof. (Ameritus) Arthur Prochazka, now retired professor in the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute at the University of Alberta, for ReGrasp.

Arthur recognized a lack of effective and accessible technologies for upper limb and hand rehabilitation due to stroke or spinal injury in the 1980s. He dedicated 30 years to translating neuroscience research into practical tools that help people regain hand and arm function. ReGrasp evolved from an electric garment innovation called the Rehabilitation Glove, which assisted hand grasp and release.
