Rehabtronics is honored to be accepted into Innovation Factory’s HEALTHI (Hamilton Ecosystem to Accelerate and Leverage Trials of Health Innovation) program. HEALTHI supports Canadian-based life science companies to work with world-class clinicians and hospital facilities to create pre-trial protocols and documents required to undertake a commercialization project or clinical trial. HEALTHI services are supported in part by funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP).
Through the HEALTHI program, Rehabtronics will be able to work directly with the world-class clinicians and hospital facilities at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to create pre-trial protocols and documents required to undertake a commercialization project or clinical trial.
Headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, Rehabtronics develops medical devices that clinicians use to help restore function and improve the lives of people who are paralyzed or immobile. The company’s newest product, Prelivia, will be explored through the HEALTHI program in collaboration with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Prelivia is the first innovation in 70 years aimed at protecting patients from pressure injuries, also known as pressure ulcers or bedsores.
Rehabtronics also develops several rehabilitation devices used by clinicians to help people recover movement after central or peripheral nervous system injury or disease:
- ReGrasp hand neurorehabilitation system is backed by 30 years of research on functional electrical stimulation (FES) to improve active range of motion and hand function.
- ReJoyce is a rehabilitation workstation and patient evaluation tool designed to help people recover from hand and arm impairment.
- ReTouch is a state-of-the-art touch screen interactive gaming system that’s designed to help people practice their thinking, memory, and attention skills.
HEALTHI supports Canadian-based life science companies to leverage up to $15,000 as they work directly with research administration groups at Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to create pre-trial protocols and documents required to undertake a commercialization project or clinical trial.
